“When you know better, you do better.” —Maya Angelou
There may be a range of topics I devote myself to in life, in my reading, writing and in how I spend my time, but a few themes thread themselves through them all:
- Everything can be learned. Break it into manageable pieces. Try, fail, and try again. Ask questions. Reflect.
- It is when we push out the edges of our comfort zone that we grow. We know this and stay close to that edge, building up to the big push to get to the other side.
- We are never finished. And we like it that way. There is no end game for self improvement. One cannot learn all the things and have all the experiences this wide world has to offer. Projects may come to a close and themes and focuses may change with time but we never close ourselves off to more discovery.
- No one can do it for us. We will struggle. We will doubt. We may slow down, reevaluate, and set a new course. In the end, however, we will take responsibility for choosing the next step.
